Cloud computing is a broad term for anything that involves delivering hosting services over the Internet. A cloud service has three specific characteristics that make it different to traditional hosting. It is typically sold on demand, by the minute, the hour, the month, or the GB, it is elastic – a user can "consume"as much or as little of a service as they want at any given time; and the service is fully managed by the provider. It is pay-as-you-go, with no capital outlay and can grow (or shrink) as your needs change.
